The wild bunch, bold cinematic rebels and adventurous films
FRANCE | 107 minutes | 2019
Jérem, a looser rapper (the excellent William Lebghil), meets Yves, an intelligent refrigerator. Not only does the machine help him eat better, it soon develops a real talent for rap, which quickly propels Jérem to stardom. Of course, there’s a price to be paid. This heavily ironic comedy gleefully demolishes our naively utopian view of artificial intelligence. It’s an edgy exercise in depressive humour: behind its fashionable pop-entertainment façade is a deep, dark dive into the ills of contemporary (and future) society. By the director of Gaz de France (2016), with, as a bonus, Philippe Katerine.NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE"A rapper and a refrigerator make ice ice baby in this outlandish French comedy."
