Contrasting visions of world cinema
BRAZIL , Portugal , Mozambique | 115 minutes | 2020
NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE
How do you make a film in a country grappling with a loss of language and identity? This is the quest facing Fernando, a penniless Brazilian director haunted by his grandfather’s tragic fate and pursued by a spirit from Mozambique. Unable to produce his film but still hoping to hit the big time, Fernando sets off for Mozambique and Portugal. The journey, dangerous, unpredictable and fantastical, becomes a rite of passage where he must confront his origins and those of his country. Felipe Bragança delivers a work of great imagination, provocative, luminous and essential. In collaboration with the Montreal Brazilian Film Festival
