The FNC is looking for films, interactive works and performances!

Each year, the Festival du nouveau cinéma presents around 300 feature and short films, interactive works and performances from over 50 countries during 11 days of festivities, and offers over $30,000 in cash and services to the winners of the national and international competition.

Today, the Festival is looking for films, interactive works and performances for its 42nd edition which will run from October 9 to 20, 2013 in Montréal !

Send us your works before June 15 to maybe be part of the Festival this year!  Early bird rate before April 30, 2013 !

Bear 71 by Jeremy Mendes & Leanne Allison – Innovation Award, Interactive Work & Web Projects 2012
As part of the FNC Lab section and its interactive works competition, the Festival du nouveau cinéma is looking for works that experiment with new audiovisual formats and the most innovative technological tools to tell a story, express a concept and contribute, more actively than ever, to the cinema of tomorrow.

The most daring and original Web, transmedia and multiplatform projects will be chosen for presentation to the public and will be eligible for the Innovation Award ($1,000 in cash), handed out every year.

 To submit an interactive work, please send the following documentation to innovation@nouveaucinema.ca:
- title of the work
- name of the author (optional: short biography)
- year of production
- short description of the work
- hyperlink, video or visual

The Festival du nouveau cinema, in its FNC Lab section, offers a series of performances bridging different disciplines and forms of expression, a rare chance for artists to commune with a wide range of audiences. Focused on the “live” aspect of audiovisual and cinematic works, the performances form a heterogeneous collection of practices focused on the presence, performative aspect and perceptual experience of sounds and images.

TABU released in theatre as of November 30

FIPRESCI International Critic Prize / Alfred Bauer Prize (Berlin International Film Festival 2012)

TABU by Miguel Gomes, presented at the 41st Festival du nouveau cinéma with the director in attendance, is released as of November 30 at Cinema Excentris (3:30pm, 8:45pm), original version Portuguese, French subtitles.

After having been presented in closing of the 39th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma, Curling (2010) will be screened at the French Institute : Alliance Française in New York City, next November 8 at 7pm, as part of the “New Cinéma Québécois” series which offers a month of films from Quebec, in collaboration with the Festival du nouveau cinéma. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Denis Côté animated by Daniel Karolewicz, programming coordinator – short films / FNC Lab, Festival du nouveau cinéma.

FESTIVAL DU NOUVEAU CINÉMA EN VSD (VOD) SUR ILLICO

For the second year running, the Festival du nouveau cinéma, in partnership with Illico, presents a multiplatform version of its lineup. Most of these feature films and shorts in the virtual festival, are drawn from the 2010 and 2011 FNC lineups. The entire selection is available on Illico Cable, Illico Web and cellphones until next January 10. Rental costs are $4.99 for a feature and $0,99 for a short film.
