The Festival du nouveau cinéma is pleased to announce that Triptyque, a film co-directed by the artist and filmmaker Pedro Pires and playwright, director, actor and director Robert Lepage, will open the 42nd edition of the festival, held from October 9 to October 20, 2013.
Triptyque is Robert Lepage’s long-awaited return to the director’s chair and will get the festival’s 42nd edition underway on Wednesday, October 9 at the Imperial Cinema, in the presence of directors Pedro Pires and Robert Lepage, and actors Lise Castonguay, Frédérike Bédard and Hans Piesbergen. It should be noted that Robert Lepage’s previous film La Face cachée de la Lune kicked off the festival in 2003, and in 2009 with a short film by Pedro Pires, Danse macabre, winner of 42 international awards.
Adapted and inspired from the play Lipsynch, Triptyque is a contemporary urban saga that tells the story of Michelle (Lise Castonguay) a schizophrenic bookseller, Marie (Frédérike Bédard), singer and actress, and Thomas (Hans Piesbergen), a German neurologist. Three lives, three destinies that cross and resonate, Triptyque is a sensitive and deeply moving variation on the themes of memory and identity.
After opening the Festival du nouveau cinéma, Triptyque hits theatres on October 25, 2013. Produced by Lynda Beaulieu (Les Productions du 8e Art), in association with National Film Board of Canada, the film is distributed by Christal Films (sub-distribution Seville Pictures).
The festival’s full line up will be unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday, September 24 at 11.00AM at the Agora, UQAM’s Cœur des sciences (175 Ave. President Kennedy corner Jeanne-Mance).
