Although the Happy Hours concept (5 to 7pm) is way more common in Montreal than in France, the Festival du nouveau cinéma felt the effervescence in Cannes was a perfect occasion to break cultural barriers. The cocktail organised on Tuesday the 18th of May, was a great opportunity to start promoting the forthcoming edition of the festival. .
Presented in the Pavillon du Québec, the FNC happy hour has over the years become a prized event. This year we welcomed over 300 guests. The FNC representatives weren’t just showing their pretty faces on the “Croisette” boardwalk . On the agenda, a cocktail, some bright sunshine…but also film negotiations, meetings with directors, producers and other industry professionals. In short, it was the right time and place to mull over the future shape of the festival, and to catch up on the latest gossip…..
Amongst the most prominent attendees at the function one spotted Dominique Besnehard, Atom Egoyan, Denise Robert, Phoebe Greenberg or Jérôme Paillard (Director of the Film Market). And as per usual in Cannes, the atmosphere was relaxed and most favourable for thought provoking discussions.
The Festival du nouveau cinéma will make doubly sure its in Cannes next year….but in the meantime to wet your appetite see you in Montreal from the 13th to the 24th of October.
