six day run (kuuden päivän juoksu)

Taanila Mika | 2013 | O.V. English, Finnish | S.T. English | Finland | 15min | colour and B & W

Synopsis :

A film about one of the most extreme individual endurance sports dating back to the 1870s. During the event, 35 runners from different countries run laps around a one-mile paved loop in a park. The runners test the limits of their endurance and ability to recover from the stress of constantly moving. They run with minimal sleep all the while trying to accumulate as many miles as possible. For the main protagonist, Pekka, running is a way to practice meditation and to forget about the surrounding world. He is a member of the international Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, founded by a spiritual teacher from Bengal. In a way, Pekka resembles a man-machine devoid of its own will but, at the same time, has a free and weightless spirit.

The film is based loosely on the Genesis creation narrative in the Bible (Genesis 1:1 – 2:3).

Jusqu'au bout du monde... ( 6 films )

A program with the theme of exploration, memory and the great Djibril Diop Mambéty. Still explorations in time and space, somewhere else or a dream of somewhere else, where fragments of memory and sensations compete for the leading role.
