Synopsis :
SHORT FILM PROGRAM
Belgian and French artist Pascale Barret combines and distorts artistic practice with a heightened awareness that technology tends to transform our perception of ourselves and others. For the Festival du nouveau cinéma, she presents works drawn from her own filmography along with films directed by her contemporaries.
“Taking a reductive approach, she uses the computer interface to define the idea of the virtual or the state of possibility. The machinimas and videos with eclectic space-time realities and structures become contact points used to appropriate, simulate and reproduce territories. From the commonplace to the utopian, with some mockery thrown in, how can a poet find her place in these obstinately synthetic worlds?” - Pascale Barret

This event takes place in the context of the cycle Virtually Sublime : a series of films, talks and performances on a serious, playful and up-to-the-minute possibility: the vertiginous absence of borders between reality and virtuality.
